Be prepared

A first date is a kind of like a job interview – you need to be prepared for it. If you want to impress the girl you’re on a date with, you have to put in an effort.

Make sure to pick her up. Even if you don’t drive, go to her house and walk together. This will make you look caring, and it will make her feel comfortable. Also, it’s essential to show up on time. Don’t be late.

If you’ve ever asked yourself, “What to give a woman on the first date?” then probably the first thing that pops up in your mind is getting her flowers. That’s an excellent idea, especially if she likes small gestures. But your options aren’t limited to that. You can also get her a box of chocolate, a baked treat, or a stuffed animal. Regardless of your choice, get her something unique but still casual if you want to impress her.

And finally, don’t forget to dress accordingly. For a more formal or traditional date, you should put a suit on or at least a shirt and a blazer. You can still dress nicely even if you want to keep it informal. Just don’t show up in sweatpants or flip-flops. This will put her off.

Take her somewhere fun

Think about what type of date she would like. It’s up to you to organize it, but both of you need to have fun. And plan it carefully – she won’t enjoy the date if it seems thoughtless or impersonal. Here are some ideas.

If she likes nature, you can plan a picnic or a hike. If you go for a picnic, then make sure to prepare nice food and drinks. For example, you can get different types of cheese and a nice bottle of wine. If you go for a hike, choose a suitable location. Please don’t take her on a long and tiring hike. You still want to enjoy yourself without drowning in sweat.

If she has a competitive spirit and is into games, then you can take her to the local fair or carnival. Enjoy the cotton candy, let your inner child out in the open, play games, take pictures together, ride the Ferris wheel…the festival is truly the greatest date idea ever.

However, if you want to keep it classic, you can simply take her out for dinner. Choose a nice place, dress accordingly and get to know each other while you enjoy some nice food. Here’s a good example.

When I was still single, I had a few dates with a guy that I met online. While we were still texting, I mentioned that I‘ve never had Mexican food. On our first date, he took me to a Mexican restaurant. When he picked me up for the date, he had brought two sombreros, and he was wearing a fake mustache. Although the restaurant wasn’t fancy, I had so much fun, and I loved the date. So you can still go for a classic date without it being a cliché.

Try to get to know her

I think we can all agree that the point of first dates is to get to know the person. Yes, having fun is also an important aspect of it, but the first date is often crucial for the future of the relationship. And this is when you decide if you want to continue seeing the person. That’s why you should focus on getting to know each other.

Rule number one is to put your phone away. If you text other people, she will take it as a sign that you’re not enjoying yourself. It’s disrespectful not to be fully engaged in the conversation. Use the time you have together to bond and build an impression.

Also,  listen to her when she talks. Ask her questions and look her in the eye but don’t be too intrusive. If you notice that a question or topic makes her uncomfortable, move along. Use open-ended questions so you can find out more about her.

Make a move

Give her a genuine compliment and watch for signs of positive body language. For example, if you may notice she points her body in your direction or that she uncrosses her arms or legs, then this means she’s also into you.

If she has been receptive to you and keeping the conversation going, smiling, laughing, having a good time, then it’s okay to make a move.

The smoothest way to make a move is to ask her to dance. That’s how you can raise the energy of the date. Also, for many women, it’s acceptable to kiss on the first date. However, you need to make sure that she gives her consent. The best way you can do that is by asking her, “Is it okay if I kiss you?”. This will leave a good impression.

Be a gentleman, and don’t be too interfering. If she doesn’t want to involve in any physical contact, then respect that. This means she needs more time, but you can still win her over.

Walk her home

The perfect end to a perfect date is to walk her home. But keep in mind that there’s a big difference between a gentleman and a creep. If you offer to walk her home and she refuses, then she probably doesn’t feel that safe with you yet. You need to respect that and let her go.

However, if she doesn’t mind, then walking her home is a must. Especially if it’s already late and dark out. Be considerate and take her to her house. Give her a hug and tell her you’ve had a nice time. If she invites you in for some coffee, then she probably wants to continue the date (if you know what I mean). But if she doesn’t, then tell her good night and move on.
