How To Flirt With a Guy On a First Date And Make Him Obsessed

A few years ago, I went on a Tinder date with a guy I barely knew. He seemed like a nice man. He was smart, handsome and he didn’t have a single photo holding a fish on his profile which was a good sign. So I decided to give it a shot.

I was also pretty confident going on that date. Charming personality? Check. Good social skills? Check. Cute outfit? Check. Flirting skills? Zero.

To be honest, so far, my “charming personality” and “good social skills” got me nowhere. I wasn’t ready to risk it just because I didn’t know how to flirt. “What if he’s the one? I can’t screw this up!” I thought to myself.

So I did what any self-respected grown woman would do when she needs advice on guys – I went on Reddit.

I spent a couple of hours scrolling through threads and made a list with tips on flirting with guys. And trust me when I tell you I swear by my research. Why? I’m still with the Tinder guy I told you about. So I think it’s safe to say I know what I’m talking about.

To save you some time on Reddit threads and Google searches, here it is – my epic list with tips on how to flirt with a guy on a first date.

First Date Flirting Tips

Make a grand entrance

Don’t arrive exactly on time. It’s better to be fashionably late. This way, he will already be at the dating spot when you get there so you can make your entrance memorable. Don’t go straight to him after you go in. Pause for a moment, look around the people in the room and only then approach him. But don’t look arrogant. Look as if you’re glad to be there.

Come prepared

Avoid asking about his past relationships or their future life plans. You don’t want to appear nosy or intrusive. But at the same time, it’s a good idea to have a few things to talk about in your mind. Ask the right questions, and he may even fall for you before the end of the date.

It’s all in the eyes, chica.

Are you failing to impress a man because you lack the gift of the gab? If yes, here’s how to do better. At first, keep your stare as casual as possible. Then, make eye contact with him for a brief moment and look away again. This will definitely intrigue him. Blushing or smiling while looking at him will instantly make you look more attractive. If there’s one thing you should learn about flirting, it’s how to use eye body language to get your message across.

Listening is hot

Listening to what he says is indeed flirting

I know you’re an interesting person and you want him to get to know you. But sometimes, talking does more damage than good. I’m not saying that you should shut up about yourself and let him do all the talking. I’m simply suggesting that you should speak only when he asks you to. This will also make you appear more mysterious.

Use body language

I don’t think I need to tell you why body language is important. Do you find guys with slumping heads and shoulders down attractive? Didn’t think so. Then you shouldn’t do that either. Keep your torso, chest, and abdomen open. Front your body, so that’s you’re directly facing him. This signals attraction and interest. Open body language is more attractive than any outfit, hairstyle, or dance move.

Encourage playful attitude

Remember that after all, you went on that date to have some fun. So channel your inner goofiness. Flip or play with your hair while talking to him, smile and punch him lightly when he jokes around. Be witty with your responses and mischievous, too. Guys love a little back-and-forth teasing. Not everything he says needs to be taken so seriously.

Choose your scent wisely

We all know that smell is the most powerful sense. It’s also the sense that triggers memories the most. So when you end the date, he will remember your perfume the most. That’s why you need to choose it wisely. The best way to go is to spray something sweet or flowery. Put it over your pulse points like your wrists, palms, neck, cleavage.

Dress to impress

The way you clothe yourself will benefit you in changing the gear of your date. It’s important to dress in something that you feel comfortable in. That doesn’t mean you should go for sweatpants and a T-shirt. A cute dress will do the job. Also, show some skin if that’s something you feel confident in. but don’t overdo it. Nobody wants a trampy date.

Play hard to get

laughing together

Don’t make yourself look too easy. Keep it playful but also gauge his boundaries a bit. The key here is to find a balance between keeping him entertained and keeping him guessing. People love what they can’t have. Especially guys. So playing hard to get is usually what attracts them the most. But also, know when to stop. You don’t want to go too far and make him actually believe you’re unreachable.

Moisturize your skin

If the date is going according to plan, then some physical touching might be involved. Maybe you’ll start dancing, or you might simply start holding hands after a few glasses of wine. That’s why you need to be prepared. Nobody wants to touch crusty skin. So after you shower, apply some moisturizer. This will make you look like you’re taking care of yourself, which is attractive to guys.

Ask him frisky questions

“What attracted you most about me? Do you have a dirty secret? How important is it for you to have a kinky partner? How was the experience of your first kiss?” You see where I’m going with this, right? The easiest trick to charm your date is to ask him flirty questions.

Find common ground

Remember that the point of your date is to get to know each other. Talk about your interests. And look genuinely interested when he talks about his. Look him in the eyes and ask relevant questions.

Disagree with him

You need to know how to disagree respectfully. This will make you look opinionated and independent. Some guys are afraid of women that stand their ground. But you don’t want a guy like that in your life. And that’s how you’ll know if he’s for you or not. Casual disagreements may also spark passion between you two.

Put on your best dance moves

You should know how to move it (move it). Even if you’re not a good dancer, you should know how to move confidently and look happy at the moment. And don’t forget that guys like quirky girls. Let your cure side come out on the dancefloor. And don’t be afraid of physical touch.

Open up

There’s nothing more attractive than honesty. Now, I’m not saying you should start complaining about all your problems. But you should be transparent about who you are and what you stand for. Even a casual fling should have a little bit of open communication.

Use his name in conversation

Saying his name in conversation creates powerful electricity. It can also be seen as a sign of respect. “Brian, I love hiking too, it makes me relax” sounds different than “I love hiking, it makes me relax.” right?

Compliment him

But only if it’s genuine. Compliments are transparent, and people usually know when you’re just saying it to make him feel better. If you like his outfit, let him know. But if you think his tie is ridiculous, better not say anything. In any case, I’m sure there’s at least one thing you like about him. And there’s nothing wrong in expressing that.
